Now that it’s time to begin to prep your home for a sale, one of the most cost effective & beneficial things you can do is paint. A recent National Association of Realtors article suggested the sleek and sophisticated color of gray has power. Interesting.  So I googled the top 10 colors to paint your house to sell. White, beige, earth tones, and there it is again, gray. The 2014 top color forecast made by Sherwin Williams, you guessed it, gray. Gray is nature’s perfect neutral.  It is timeless, practical and solid.

The key to using gray effectively when selling your home is to pair the right shade with your home's overall feel. If you're selling a trendy urban loft, for example, you may be able to use a dark gray to enhance the effect of sleek, modern furnishings. The same color would look completely out of place in a traditional home with conservative furnishings. In that case, you could use a light gray to bring a feeling of coolness to a bedroom (since many grays border on shades of blue, their calming effects can be similar).

And why is painting your house in order to sell your home so important? How about a major return on investment!  The average price to paint interior walls is $500 to $750, but that increases a home price by an average of $1,500 to $2,000 -- which can be a 250 percent return on investment!
